4 Ways to Stay Informed About Office 365 Updates

A lot of people have trouble keeping up with the latest trends and changes in technology. Office 365 is constantly changing, and it can be difficult to keep up with all the updates. It is really important to stay informed, seeing as Microsoft owns the platform they can roll out new features whenever they want as well as remove the functionality or change the way some features work.

Here are 3 ways to know what is happening with Office 365!

Release Options

One of the main things you need to know is what features you are going to see from Microsoft. This comes in two parts, Office client and the Office 365 service.

Office 2016 Client – you may be licensed for Microsoft Office depending on your subscription. Microsoft will give you different features and functionality than other people that have brought Office off the shelf. These changes are usually pushed out based on a release channel and if you want these new features earlier that is what you will need to change.

Office 365 – the Office 365 platform has two release options. The first one is targeted which is also called the “first release.” You can target the entire company to receive these preview features. The second option is standard, which means you get the features when everyone else does.

Email Digest

Another way to get all of the latest updates is from a weekly digest! In the admin centre there is a message centre that gives a detailing of all the changes that are happening. All you need to click is ‘Edit Message Centre Preferences’ and you can choose what apps you want to keep up with.

Tech Community

If you ever need any help you can always get involved in the user community via the TechNet forums. In the Microsoft Tech Community, you can follow certain channels for different products and services including Office 365. Some program managers within Microsoft post new changes and updates before anywhere else.

Office Blog

This blog has more high-level overview material where as more of the technical details are in the Tech Community. This is still a good blog to follow to keep up to date with everything.
