Video Conferencing Security Tips

The COVID-19 pandemic is changing the way we live our lives. Keeping socially distanced means many of us are working from home for the first time and this means that we are adapting to new ways of doing our jobs.

The amount of online and video conferencing taking place in the UK has increased dramatically. In the last 12 months, over 50% of the working UK population said that they had worked from home at some point, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. People across the UK are using Teams and Zoom to hold staff meetings, keep in touch with their colleagues and talk to clients.

Tips for video conferencing:

o Make sure you have a stable internet connection.

o Select a good video conferencing software.

o Have an agenda prior to the conference.

o Take precautions before screen-sharing

o Close down any unnecessary tabs and applications before joining.

o Sit in a bright spot with a neutral background.

o Test the video and audio on your device.

How do I keep secure?

Making sure your video conferences are cyber secure will keep out unwanted guests, protect your employees and secure your data. We recommend setting up passwords for all of your meetings so only people you know can attend and then lock the call when everyone has joined.

We also recommend limiting file sharing so only you or trusted employees can share files as well as prevent the recording of meetings, so only you can do this. This ensure that all of the information in the meeting is being kept safe.
